US Politics and Economics


With twenty days passing since the media declared former Vice President Joe Biden the winner of the 2020 election, Trump has yet to concede. However, the President said Thursday that he will leave the White House if the electoral college does indeed vote for Biden, though the members would have “made a mistake,” as he claims that the election was a “fraud.” The electoral college vote is expected to take place on December 14, and all states will have certified their results by that date.

As the coronavirus pandemic continues to rage on with many businesses approaching bankruptcy, Black Friday will be a challenging day for many shops who still want to encourage shoppers to go out and purchase items, as the pandemic has caused diminishing crowds as many customers order products online. Other stores have enhanced their safety protocols in light of the CDC labeling shopping as risky during this current pandemic. However, many stores that offer online shopping, such as Walmart, have seen a surge in sales, while many other stores are still hoping for Black Friday crowds, offering deals for their products and opening at earlier times.


Health


According to, CDC’s COVID Data Tracker, as of November 27, 2020, 12:32 PM, there are 12.49 million cases nationwide and 259k deaths. Currently, Texas leads with 1.21 million cases, while California follows with 1.08 million cases.



The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention is considering shortening its recommended two-week quarantine period for people who have come in contact with people who have it. This change was welcomed by health experts because they believed that more relaxed guidelines would make it easier for them to follow.



Science and Technology


Per BBC, TikTok, a visual app that may contain flashing lights, causes people with “photosensitive epilepsy” to be prone to seizures. Therefore, Tiktok has announced a new feature that will allow these people to skip videos that could trigger seizures, called The Skip All option. “An epilepsy charity said it hoped other social-media sites would follow suit.”
